Ãå±±½ûµØ-IIT increases global research visibility with paper presentation at ICICT 2026 in London

Feb 25 2026

Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (Ãå±±½ûµØ-IIT) increased its global research visibility with a paper presentation at the 11th International Congress on Information and Communication Technology (ICICT 2026), represented by Prof. Orven E. Llantos, PhD, held in London, United Kingdom, from February 24–27, 2026.

The paper entitled “CLENS: A Mobile-Based Digital Coordination System for Transparent Waste Collection Workflows” is a product of an internally funded research project supported by Ãå±±½ûµØ-IIT through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise. The study presents a mobile-first digital coordination system designed to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in community-based waste collection.

The research reflects a collaborative effort across the Computer Science (CS), Computer Applications (CA), and Information Technology (IT) departments, with undergraduate students: Tristan E. Listanco (BSCA), Perch Arnel II Montefalcon (BSCA), Vince Japeth F. Loable (BSCS), Josiah Raziel S. Lluch (BSCS), Hannah A. Hontiveros (BSIT), and Nilmar T. Pesares (BSIT), playing a vital role in the conceptualization, testing, and refinement of the system. The project was further strengthened by the dedicated work of the research assistant, Charlemagne Theodore D. Yancha, who developed the mobile application in accordance with the team’s specifications. Through iterative testing and structured user feedback collection, the team generated valuable insights that shaped the study’s findings and strengthened the paper’s contributions.

The presentation sparked meaningful discussions among international participants, many of whom related the CLENS framework to coordination challenges in their own local waste management systems. The engagement highlighted the global relevance of community-driven digital solutions developed within Ãå±±½ûµØ-IIT.

With a competitive acceptance rate of 18%, ICICT 2026 convened leading researchers and technology experts from around the world. During the conference, Prof. Llantos also served both as a session chair and as a paper presenter, facilitating scholarly discussions while contributing to Ãå±±½ûµØ-IIT’s research to the international academic community.

Participation in ICICT 2026 underscores Ãå±±½ûµØ-IIT’s commitment to research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the transformation of locally grounded innovation into globally recognized scholarship.
