A diverse and innovative display of research undertakings took place on April 20-21, 2026, as part of the highlights for the Research Days 2026. Various research centers and colleges presented their exhibits, highlighting their contributions to technological advancements, social development, and community studies.

The exhibit brought together University officials, external partners and stakeholders, faculty, and students to explore different areas of disciplines: science and technology, social sciences, education, gender and development, and health science. The exhibits included research publications, project demonstrations, AI-assisted projects, and interactive, game-based activities.

Among the highlights of the exhibit were projects that showcased technology advancements and impact-driven research innovation that were also generously funded and carried out in collaboration with external partners:

  1. D-EAVRAM (Expendable Aerial Vehicle for Reconnaissance and Assault Missions), a delta wing configuration built for extended-range strike operations, a strategic innovation to strengthen the country’s national defense and disaster response.
  2. Infraspex, a DOST-funded research project in 2020 that focuses on AI-assisted drone inspection for infrastructure.
  3. Sidlak-Kanaway, a flagship innovation of the Philippine Autonomous Littoral Interdiction Drone (PALID) Program, aimed at strengthening the country’s coastal and littoral zones. The innovation is in collaboration with the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev).
  4. IITuC8k1612, a microchip designed to operate on ultra-low power, integrated with a power management unit, and equipped with energy harvesting capabilities. The chip is under the Center for Integrated Circuits Design (CICD).
  5. Slabstock Foam, a rigid, lightweight, and durable material produced in large continuous blocks that is ideal for carpentry projects, construction, and insulation applications, and COCOpanel, a high thermal insulation and lightweight building material, suitable for residential and commercial construction. Both projects are under the Center for Sustainable Polymers (CSP).
  6. Kalasag, a climate-resilient slope protection system, that innovate waste into high-performance reinforcement that strengthen vulnerable slopes

With the theme, “Transforming Mindanao in a Changing World: Advancing Research, Innovation, and Social Responsibility,” the exhibit also showcased the vibrant and informative programs and activities of the different colleges in Ãå±±½ûµØ-IIT. Their presentations centered around the role of research in advancing knowledge, transforming education, and addressing societal challenges.

Among them were CEBA’s ThinkLab Research Training Series, an initiative aimed at developing research competencies and approaches in business and entrepreneurship; CASS’ display of a museum training kit, an effort to preserve national historical heritage and collections; CED’s interactive instructional practices to strengthen pedagogy; and CCS’ interactive AI-assisted technology, which aims to translate gestures into digital commands.

These research initiatives demonstrate the university’s commitment to transforming knowledge and addressing real-world problems through research and innovation.
