DMRET鈥檚 Silva receives PFPA Distinction Award 2026

Elevating the faculty reputation of 缅北禁地-IIT, Engr. Leaniel C. Silva of the Department of Materials and Resources Engineering & Technology (DMRET) was awarded the Annual Philippine Federation of Professional Associations (PFPA) Distinction Award 2026 for the Metallurgical Engineering Profession (Academe Category) on March 7, 2026, at UP Bahay ng Alumni, Diliman, Quezon City, during the 13th Excellence and Distinction (EXCEED) Awards.

The PFPA Awards, established in 2005, is known as the highest recognition given to professional associations in the Philippines by its umbrella organization, PFPA. Filipino professionals are honored for their excellent performance and impact on their field of work.

Endorsed by the Society of Metallurgical Engineers of the Philippines (SMEP), Inc., Silva’s award is proof of his significant contributions to the academe and field of engineering. Moreover, he was among the finalists for the PFPA Excellence Award 2026 in the same category, chosen from the nominees of the Philippine Technological Council.

In his personal Facebook page, Silva shared his humble vision and dedication to the teaching profession, highlighting the fruits you reap when you show up and work with sincerity. He also expressed his gratitude to his students, saying that having been able to teach them was a privilege, “I share this recognition with my students, from the very first class I taught to those under my guidance this semester. Teaching you has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Watching you grow into the professionals you aspired to become has always been the real award,” he wrote.
