the diversity, nutritional and chemical composition of selected species of
edible Crickets (Orthoptera : Gryllidae) in the Municipality of Tubajon,
Dinagat Islands, Philippines
Project Leader: Eddie P. Mondejar, Ph.D
Duration: 9 months
Salary: Php 15,208.80/month
Tentative
schedule of interview: March 30, 2026 (afternoon)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree graduate in Biology, or a closely related
field.
- Preferably
with experience in field sampling of terrestrial arthropods, particularly
Orthoptera (Gryllidae), is highly desirable. Applicants should have basic
laboratory skills in sample preparation, proximate analysis, or chemical
profiling techniques.
- Willingness
to conduct fieldwork in Tubajon, Dinagat Islands
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the
collection of edible cricket species (Gryllidae) in selected sites in
Tubajon, Dinagat Islands.
- Record
ecological and habitat data relevant to species occurrence and
distribution.
- Ensure proper
handling, labeling, and preservation of collected specimens.
- Prepare
samples for nutritional (e.g., proximate composition) and chemical
analyses.
- Assist in
laboratory procedures, including drying, grinding, extraction, and storage
of samples.
- Assist in the
preparation of technical reports, progress reports, and research
outputs.
- Assist in
coordinating project-related documents and communications with offices and
personnel.
